Because of which player Yuzvendra Chahal was dropped by RCB, former head coach revealed, he could not be taken in the auction…

New Delhi. Yuzvendra Chahal, who created history by taking 200 wickets in the history of Indian Premier League, is playing for Rajasthan Royals. Royal Challengers Bangalore will regret for a long time for not keeping this champion spinner in the team. The franchise’s former cricket director Mike Hesson on Tuesday insisted that they failed to retain the leg spinner due to miscalculation in the last IPL auction.

On Monday, Chahal created history by becoming the first bowler to take 200 wickets in the IPL. Speaking to former Indian batsman Robin Uthappa on Geo Cinema, Hesson said, “Yuzi (Chahal) is a player with whom I will be disappointed until I finish my career and maybe even after that. He is an excellent bowler.”

He further said, “I think when it comes to every cycle, you have to decide who you want to retain. If you retain only three players, you walk away with an extra Rs 4 crore in the auction. This potentially would have given us an opportunity to buy both Harshal (Patel) and Yuji.

Hesson said that Chahal’s name came very late in the auction and by then the franchise had already bought Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga. He said, “When the order of auction came and Yuzvendra Chahal was at number 65. After Yuji, there was no other spinner in whom we were interested. We were obviously interested in Hasaranga as another option if we didn’t get Yuji. So we bid for that and then once we got Hasaranga it meant we couldn’t go for Yuji.
